CredentialsOnLine™: CVO Making the Mark. CredentialsOnLine is fully certified by NCQA for 10 out of 10 verification services
SAN DIEGO, CA – May 31, 2006, CredentialsOnLine announced today that they have received certification in 10 out of 10 verification services from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). The NCQA is an independent, non-profit organization that certifies credentials verification organizations and accredits managed care organizations.
NCQA certification is a substitute for health plan oversight of a CVO’s structure and performance in verifying provider credentials. There are two major components to the CVO Certification Survey:
- Determination of compliance credentials files to determine compliance with NCQA’s MCO credentialing standards
- An audit of completed credentials files to determine compliance with NCQA’s MCO credentialing standards.
Certification is awarded to participating organizations on the basis of individual credentials elements. CredentialsOnLine (COL) was certified for the following 10 out of 10 verification services:
- License to practice
- DEA/CDS Certification
- Medical Board Sanctions
- Education and Training
- Ongoing Monitoring
- Malpractice Claims History
- Medicaid/Medicare Sanctions
- Work History
- Practitioner Application Processing
- CVO Application and Attestation Content
COL has successfully achieved four consecutive NCQA certifications. The first certification was received in January 2000.
HealthLine Systems is a leading provider of healthcare solutions serving more than 1,000 clients nationwide. In 1998, HealthLine established CredentialsOnLine and during the first year of operations, the CVO conducted primary source verification for a medical society with over 10,000 practitioners.
Today, CredentialsOnLine serves hospitals, health systems and managed care organizations nationwide with application processing and primary source verification services.
CredentialsOnLine utilizes HealthLine’s powerful Echo provider credentialing management system to process its primary source verification activities. Echo is a browser-based software application interfaced with Microsoft's SQL database platform and provides COL clients with secure 24 hour/day access to provider data from internet-accessible computers. The implementation of Echo in CredentialsOnLine with the high efficiency document scanning capability enabled COL to reduce the number of full-time equivalent staff and improve timeliness and accuracy of primary source verification information. The Echo system has also eliminated the need for costly paper files.
"CredentialsOnLine manages credentialing and verification efforts for over 20 different provider types, including physicians, dentists, nurses and independent and dependent practitioners," explains Dave Clark, Chief Operating Officer of CredentialsOnLine. "We are pleased that in addition to assisting organizations in meeting regulatory due diligence standards and streamlining the credentialing process, we also meet NCQA’s credentialing standards for managed care organizations."
The NCQA is dedicated to assessing and reporting on the quality of managed care plans, managed behavioral healthcare organizations, preferred provider organizations, new health plans, physician organizations, and credentials verification organizations.
The NCQA certification process is a voluntary review process that includes rigorous onsite evaluations conducted by a team of healthcare professionals and certified credentials specialists. The NCQA evaluates data collection and verification operations, audits completed files, reviews policies and procedures, evaluates mechanisms to ensure data integrity and confidentiality, and monitors the process used to continuously improve the services the CVO provides. After the on-site review, a national oversight committee analyzes the team’s findings and determines certification based on the CVO’s compliance with NCQA standards.
